Multidisciplinary engineering consultancy

Engineering that makes projects easier.

Practical, coordinated and buildable engineering across the built environment. Ten disciplines, one team, one model — resolved in design rather than on site.

The short version

Four things that decide whether a services package works.

Disciplines
Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire, passive fire, civil, ESD, CFD, digital engineering and ASP Level 3 — delivered by one team against one model. See the ten service lines
Approach
Our engineers design the way contractors build. Plant space, drainage falls, riser allocation and penetrations are resolved at concept and held through documentation. How we work
Response
Every enquiry receives a response within one business day. Fee proposals are generally issued within three to five business days, depending on complexity and the documentation provided.
Credentials
CPEng · NER · NSW Design Practitioner · RPEQ · FPAA FSA · GSAP — held by named Directors, on public registers. Meet the Directors

Why Lumex

The difficulty is rarely the engineering.

It is the coordination between disciplines, the decisions taken before anyone checks whether they can be built, and the consultant who takes four days to answer a question that is holding up a pour.

Lumex was founded on that diagnosis. Consultancies have drifted into delivering drawings. Clients end up coordinating disciplines themselves and absorbing risk the consultant should have carried.

Designed the way it gets built

Every decision is tested against installation sequence, access, replacement route and the trade that has to price it. A design that is correct and unbuildable is a variation waiting to happen.

How we work

Coordination closed out, not reported

Clash detection runs on a cycle with named owners and closing dates. The number that matters to a builder is not how many clashes were found — it is how many reached site.

Digital engineering

One team, either side of every interface

Civil and hydraulic. Fire and passive fire. Network connection and main switchboard. The seams between consultants are where the RFIs cluster. Holding both sides removes the seam.

Ten disciplines
Capability

Ten disciplines. One set of assumptions.

Engage one discipline or all ten. Where more than one is required, delivering them together removes the coordination burden from you — which is the point.

Sectors

Where we work.

Data centres sit outside our current focus. Saying so is more useful to you than a list that includes everything.

Residential
Apartment and mixed-tenure developments where saleable area, plant space and BASIX outcomes are decided together.
Commercial
Office and workplace projects where NABERS commitments and lettable area drive the services strategy.
Education
Schools and tertiary facilities delivered around occupied campuses and constrained holiday programmes.
Healthcare
Clinical environments where ventilation, redundancy and infection control set the engineering baseline.
Hospitality
Venues where kitchen exhaust, trade waste and acoustic separation determine what the design can achieve.
Industrial
Warehousing and light industrial where power capacity and fire protection govern the building.
Mixed-use
Developments where separation, metering and shared infrastructure have to be resolved before the plan is fixed.
Digital engineering

Evidence, where assumption is not enough.

Computational fluid dynamics is most valuable before a design is fixed. Applied early it routinely shows that a prescriptive ventilation provision is larger than the building needs — and a shaft that can be deleted with evidence is worth considerably more than the analysis costs.

CFD used to remove plant, not to justify it

A study that confirms an existing design is commercially neutral. A study that deletes an exhaust shaft, reduces a fan bank or returns floor area has paid for itself several times over. Every study we issue states its boundary conditions, its mesh strategy and its governing scenario — because a reviewing engineer will ask.

CFD modelling

A model that resolves conflict, not one that records it

Most projects produce a model. Fewer use it to make decisions. Level of development is agreed in writing by stage, detection runs on a schedule, every issue has an owner and a date, and the closing-out position is reported to the design team and the builder.

Directors

Two Directors. Both on the work.

The Director you meet is the Director on your project. Work is not handed down to a tier you have not met, and the credentials below belong to named people you can look up on a public register.

Send us the drawings.

The consent, the architectural set and the programme. We will come back with a clear fee proposal and, where we can see one, the constraint worth solving first.
